HAJL Hands Over New Home to Indigent Beneficiary During Edmund Ridge Estate Tour.

Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica — On Friday, April 25, 2025, the Housing Agency of Jamaica Limited (HAJL), hosted an official tour of its Edmund Ridge Estate Housing Development, located in Rhyne Park, Montego Bay, St. James.

The event was marked by the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including, Dr. The Most Honourable Andrew Holness, ON, PC, MP; Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Growth and Job Creation, The Honourable Edmund Bartlett, OJ, CD, Member of Parliament for St. James East Central; His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Richard Vernon;, Mr. Norman Brown, Chairman of HAJL, Bishop the Honourable Conrad Pitkin, CD, JP, Custos Rotulorum for the Parish of Saint James, as well as senior officials from the Agency and representatives of Henan Fifth Construction Group Limited, Joint Venture partner.

A notable highlight of the event was the symbolic handover of house keys to Miss Pagjanette Sawe, a beneficiary under HAJL’s Housing Assistance Programme. Her new home, a two-bedroom, one bathroom bungalow was constructed under the Agency’s public-private partnership with Henan Fifth Construction Group Limited, and underscores HAJL’s ongoing responsiveness to expanding housing access to all including the for vulnerable.

This Joint Venture is part of HAJL’s broader mandate to deliver safe, affordable, and sustainable housing solutions across the island. The Edmund Ridge Estate Development serves as a model of effective collaboration between government and the private sector in addressing the national housing demand.

The event also included a guided walk through out various sections of the development, thus providing attendees with a firsthand look at the progress of the development and the vision for the future phases of construction.

HAJL used the opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to “Building Jamaica. One Community at a Time,” and to emphasize its continued focus on transforming communities through strategic partnerships and impactful housing initiatives.
